PRESS RELEASE

On Saturday and Sunday, 2 & 3 March 2019, the 10th Anniversary Forum of the Hellenic Companion Animal Veterinary Society (H.C.A.V.S.)successfully took place at the Wyndham Grand Athens Hotel, in Athens.

The opening ceremony was held on Saturday morning in the largest hall, which was filled with participants-veterinarians, representatives of companies-sponsors, members of the two university schools of Veterinary Medicine, as well as guests of honor of the Organizing Committee.

The ceremony was dedicated in the memory and the work of Professor Timoleon Rallis,who was President of the Society and a beloved friend. After the introduction of the Acting President of the H.C.A.V.S., Benjamin Albalas, the President of the Organizing Committee, Michael Chatzopoulos addressed the audience followed by the President of the Scientific Committee, Professor Dimitris Raptopoulos.The floor was then given to the President of the Department of Veterinary Medicine of the School of Health Sciences, Professor Nikos Papaioannou and to Errikos Tsipianitis, member of the Board of the Hellenic Veterinary Association, who spoke on behalf of the President of the Association, Athina Trachili.

We listened with particular attention and emotion to the speech of Timoleons’ daughter, Stella Ralli, who was invited to the event.

Professor Edward J. Hall, who was especially invited to the honorary event, delivered a speech of significant interest on “The present and the future of Gastroenterology”, in memory of Professor T. Rallis.

The 10th Forum took place in four halls, where different subject areas were addressed at the same time. Beyond the vast majority of sessions which concerned pathological conditions of every medical specialization concerning dogs and cats, there were also sessions on Equidae and Lagomorphs.

The innovations introduced in the 10th Forum were the following:

• The type of sessions called “Small Group Sessions”. These were held in one hall, on Saturday and Sunday, the whole day long
• The Dentistry Session -offered by the W.S.A.V.A.- which was successfully prepared by the School of Dentistry of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
• The Special Sessions -offered by the H.C.A.V.S.to the sponsors, in return for a successful cooperation,at all levels,in the ten years of the Society’s activities.

The foreign guest speakers expressed their satisfaction over the participation of their colleagues and thanked the Society for the organization and the scientific efficiency, respectively.

The 10th Forum leaves behind an amazing overview, both in terms of quality and quantity of subjects and participations.

The Forum received more than 750 participations, while the number of registrars in the scientific program was about 600 (500 veterinarians and 100 students of veterinary medicine). Especially in the Small Group Sessions, 140 participants registered and attended the sessions.

The Organizing and Scientific Committee of 10th Forum, as well as the Executive Board of the H.C.A.V.S., wishes to thank all the speakers warmly for their contribution to the great success of the Forum. A special word of thanks goes to the participant colleagues, who once again embraced the Society and the Forum with confidence! A heartfelt thank you also to all the commercial companies that sponsor and constantly support the Society’s work.

Last but not least, we wish to express our special thanks to our future colleagues, the students of the School of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Thessaly, who contributed to the success of the 10th Forum with their tireless voluntary work.

For 10 years now, the H.C.A.V.S. is supported by its Secretariat, which indefatigably, thoroughly and in full cooperation with the Executive Board, develops more and more expertise, contributing to the success of all the events organized by the Society.

Dear Colleagues,

The Hellenic Companion Animal Veterinary Society organizes and invites you to the 6th FORUM on Companion Animal Medicine.

As every spring, this year as well, from the 13th to the 15th of March 2015, will be held, this time in Athens, the Veterinary Scientific Event of the country.
The 6th Forum will take place at the HELEXPO Exhibition & Conference Center the largest conference center of the city, with main topic: “The Chronic Patient: a contemporary challenge”. At the same time, two Pre-Conference Seminars are organized with the topics: “Suturing lab” and “Echocardiography in clinical practice – practical training” while there will be an Intra-Conference day of Dermatology by H.S.V.D.
With three parallel-operating conference rooms, simultaneous translations and an exhibition area of 1.000 m2, the conference is addressed to Greek as well as foreign congress participants, exhibitors and sponsors.
Introducing innovation once more, HCAVS will be addressed to the colleagues and sponsors of the Balkan and Eastern Mediterranean countries, inaugurating a truly international Veterinary Congress and hoping that the FORUM will gradually become a scientific event of the wider region.
Taking advantage of their experience, the Organizational and the Scientific Committees will pay any effort possible for the impeccable organization of the Congress. The absolute success is defined though, by the number of the participants, the quality of the lectures, the participation of the sponsors and the excitement and the strong will of all of us to support scientific events of this level.
In this context, we invite and look forward to meeting you on the 13th to 15th of March, 2015, at the 6th Forum in Athens in order to experience a different scientific conference with quality and surprises

ACCOMODATION

 This year’s Forum focuses on the full spectrum of Gastroenterology in Small Animals, including the pathology, the introspection and the surgery of the gastrointestinal tract, the liver and the exocrine region of the pancreas. At the same time free communications, regarding all aspects of companion animal medicine will be available in a separate hall.

 On Friday, 9 March, two pre-conference seminars will take place; a theoretical seminar on clinical nutrition with three invited speakers who specialize on the particular subject (this seminar will be held in the hotel) and one practical seminar; the first will be about the endoscopy of the esophagus, the stomach and the intestine. The practical seminar will have a limited number of participants and it will take place in the premises of the Companion Animal Clinic of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.

 In parallel with the scientific program, an exhibition of veterinary products and services will also be available.

 The Organizing Committee makes every possible effort to ensure that the 9th Forum lives up to your expectations.

 Dear Colleagues

True to its tradition of annual meetings, it is with great pleasure that the Hellenic Companion Animal Veterinary Society invites you to the 7th Veterinary Forum on Companion Animal Medicine. It will be held in beautiful Thessaloniki, where companion animal veterinarians from all over Greece will meet once again for the most important veterinary scientific event of the year. The conference will take place on 4-6th March 2016, and the theme of the conference will be «For Cats Only». Distinguished speakers have been invited from both Greece and overseas.

As every year, the HCAVS is staging a truly international veterinary scientific conference, attracting colleagues and sponsors from Balkan and East Mediterranean countries, aspiring to it eventually becoming an established event for the wider region.

The scientific program of the 7th Veterinary Forum will comprise preconference seminars including theoretical and practical training to be held in the Companion Animal Clinic of the Veterinary Department at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. The main conference will take place in GRAND HOTEL PALACE, in two parallel halls and will cover topics regarding cat health care which will be of utmost significance and use to the companion animal veterinarian. A third hall will accommodate free communications and short presentations.

We believe that your active participation, submission of papers and proper preparation of talks will collectively contribute to the success of the 7th Forum, bringing us all closer together and strengthening our field. The Organizing and Scientific Committees have made every effort to coordinate an exceptional scientific event. It is our conviction that our real strength lies in knowledge and its application in clinical practice.

The Organizing Committee has reserved a sufficient number of rooms at the hotel at a special rate of 80€ per night (inclusive of tax) for both single and double rooms.
The rate includes breakfast and is valid until 28/2/2016. Αγαπητοί συνάδελφοι,

Το 5ο FORUM Κτηνιατρικής Ζώων Συντροφιάς αποτελεί παρελθόν. Στη Θεσσαλονίκη, στις 7-9 Μαρτίου 2014 και σε έναν από τους καλύτερους συνεδριακούς χώρους της χώρα µας, το ξενοδοχείο «GRAND HOTEL PALACE», έλαβε χώρα το επιστηµονικό γεγονός της χρονιάς. Ένα συνέδριο µε συγκεκριµένη θεµατολογία, «Χειρουργική... και όχι µόνο».

Στα πλαίσια του 5ου FORUM πραγµατοποιήθηκε στις 7 Μαρτίου 2014 προσυνεδριακό σεµινάριο οδοντιατρικής, το οποίο λόγω της µεγάλης συµµετοχής επαναλήφθηκε και τη Δευτέρα 10 Μαρτίου 2014. Ήταν το πρώτο κτηνιατρικό µετασυνεδριακό σεµινάριο που πραγµατοποιήθηκε στη χώρα µας.
Στο 5ο FORUM προσεκλήθησαν να µιλήσουν και τίµησαν µε τη παρουσία τους διακεκριµένοι Έλληνες και ξένοι οµιλητές. Οι ελεύθερες ανακοινώσεις έφθασαν τις 73, από τις οποίες οι 6 είχαν τη µορφή αναρτηµένης ανακοίνωσης (poster). Κορυφαία στιγµή για όλους µας, αποτέλεσε η βράβευση  του Οµότιµου Καθηγητή Χειρουργικής του ΑΠΘ, Κου Φώτη Παπαδόπουλου, για το ακαδηµαϊκό του ήθος και την προσφορά του στη Χειρουργική των Ζώων Συντροφιάς, από τον Πρόεδρο του ΔΣ της ΕΛΕΚΖΣ, Κο Βενιαµίν Αλµπάλα.
Ευχαριστούµε όλους τους συνέδρους, κτηνιάτρους και φοιτητές Κτηνιατρικών Σχολών, που παρακολούθησαν το 5ο FORUM, καθώς και τις εταιρείες χορηγούς, οι οποίες σε µια εξαιρετικά δύσκολη οικονοµική περίοδο, στήριξαν για άλλη µια φορά τις επιστηµονικές δραστηριότητες της ΕΛΕΚΖΣ.

Η Ελληνική Εταιρεία Κτηνιατρικής Ζώων Συντροφιάς (ΕΛ.Ε.Κ.Ζ.Σ.) διοργάνωσε το 3ο Forum Κτηνιατρικής Ζώων Συντροφιάς, το οποίο πραγματοποιήθηκε στις 10-12 Φεβρουαρίου 2012 στην Αθήνα, στο Ίδρυμα Ευγενίδου (Πλανητάριο).
